Getting Ready for Your First Skate
Skating for the first time can feel a little wobbly, but a few simple preparations make the visit much easier and more fun.
What to wear
Choose comfortable clothing that lets you move, and wear socks you like, since you will be wearing them inside your skates. Long hair should be tied back, and it helps to leave jewelry at home.
Skates and rentals
If you do not own roller skates, you can rent a pair at the rink. Our rental skates come in a range of sizes, and our skate mates can help beginners keep their balance. If you already have your own skates, check our FAQ page to see what is allowed on the floor.
Before you step on the floor
Take a moment at the wall to find your footing. Bend your knees slightly, keep your weight over your feet, and move slowly at first. Staying near the wall until you feel steady is a good plan for everyone, from young skaters to adults trying it for the first time.
